Funky Chunky, LLC Recalls Gift Box Sets Due to Undeclared Allergen
Funky Chunky, LLC of Eden Prairies, Minnesota issued a recall on December 20, 2018 for their 10 oz Nutty Choco Pop Gift Box, 50 oz Holiday Crowd Pleaser, and 50 oz Crowd Pleaser due to the presence of the undeclared allergens, almonds and cashew tree nuts. Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds or cashew tree nuts risk serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if the product is consumed.
The recall was initiated after a consumer complaint of the product containing almond and cashew tree nut in packaging that did not reveal the presence of those known allergens. Affected product was distributed to the states of Arizona, Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming through mail order or direct delivery. Apio Inc. Recalls Salad Bowls Due to Health Risk
Apio, Inc of Guadalupe, California issued a recall on December 26, 2018 for their single-serve Eat Smart Salad Shake Ups salad bowls due to potential contamination with the health risk, Listeria monocytogenes.
Listeria monocytogenes is a harmful bacteria that can cause serious and sometimes fatal illness in the very young, the very old, and those with a compromised immune system. Pregnant women are at risk for miscarriages and still birth. Normally healthy individuals often experience short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
The recall was initiated after positive test results from CFIA. As a precautionary measure a recall was issued for all products produced on the same day and same production line, as positive sample.
Affected product was shipped to retail and distributor customers in the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Idaho, Kansas, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Product was also shipped to retail and distributors in the Canadian provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan. See table below for specific product information.
Consumers are urged to not consume the recalled product.
R.L. Zeigler Co., Inc Recalls Poultry and Pork Sausage Products Due to Mechanical Contamination
R.L. Zeigler Co., Inc of Selma, Alabama issued a recall on December 30, 2018 for approximately 11,664 pounds of ready-to-eat poultry and meat sausage products due to potential contamination with extraneous material, specifically metal. Consuming non-food products may cause digestive distress or injury.
The recall was initiated after consumer complaints. Affected products were produced on November 29, 2018 and bears the establishment number P-9156S. See table below for specific product information.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions in connection with these products.
