What’s in Your Kitchen? 7/16 Week in Recalls

MakeFoodSafe.com would like to help you keep your family safe from unsafe foods.  Each week we bring together a list of the current recalls.  Some recalls are issued due to undeclared allergens, which could cause serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if someone sensitive to the product consumes it.  Other recalls are issued due to contamination with harmful material or other health risk.  Check back often and evaluate your fridge, pantry, and shopping list to make sure you can identify which foods to avoid.

This week’s recalls include:

Wish Bone Salad Dressing Issues Recall on House Italian Salad Dressing Due to Undeclared Allergen

Pinnacle Foods Inc issued a limited quantity recall of their Wish Bone House Italian Salad Dressing in 15 oz size on June 28, 2018 due to the undeclared allergen, milk and egg.  Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk and/or egg may experience a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if the product is consumed.

The recall was initiated after a retail customer notified the company that a limited number of bottles were mislabeled.  The product contained in the package contains milk and eggs that is not listed on the packaging.

The affected product was produced on March 19, 2018.  Recalled product includes 7,768 cases of Wish Bone House Italian Salad Dressing in the 15 oz bottle size.  No other Wish Bone products are affected by the recall.

No illness has been reported at this time in connection to this recall.  Consumers are urged to not consume the recalled products.

Talking Rain Recalls Sparkling Ice Cherry Limeade Due Customer Complaints

The Talking Rain company issued a recall for specific lot codes of their Sparkling Ice Cherry Limeade beverage on June 6, 2018 due to customer complaints reporting an off-taste and off-odor of the product.  The recall is being issued out of an abundance of caution.  No other Sparkling Ice products are affected by the recall.

The affected product was produced only at one of the company’s facilities.  The product can be identified as a 17-ounce, clear plastic bottle under the name Sparkling Ice Cherry Limeade.  The product comes in both singles and multipacks alongside other unaffected flavors.

Talking Rain advises customers to not drink the product.

Whole Foods Market Stores Recall Oatmeal Raisin Cookies Due to Undeclared Allergen

Whole Foods Markets issued a recall on June 29, 2018 for Whole Foods Market Brand oatmeal raisin cookies in eight states due to undeclared allergen, soy flour.  Those who have a severe sensitivity or allergy to soy may experience serious or life-threatening allergic reaction.

The affected product was sold in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.  The problem was discovered after the supplier notified the company of an unannounced ingredient change.

No illness has been reported in connection with this recall.

May Flower International Inc. Recalls Soda Crackers Due to Undeclared Allergen

May Flower International Inc. of Maspeth, New York issued a recall for their 4.4 ounce packages of 3+2 Soda Crackers on June 29, 2018 due to the undeclared allergen, milk.  Those with a severe sensitivity or allergy to milk risk serious of life threatening reaction if the product is consumed.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors samples revealed the presence of milk allergens not listed on the ingredient label.

The product was distributed nationwide in retail stores and can be identified as coming in a 4.4 ounce, yellow plastic package. and the product is un-coded, so no UPC or lot information is available.

No illness has been reported to date.

LL’s Magnetic Clay Inc Recalled Dietary Supplement Due to Undeclared Allergen

LL’s Magnetic Clay, Inc. of Austin, Texas issued a recall for certain lots of Prescript-Assist, a dietary supplement on June 29, 2018 due to the potential to contain the undeclared allergens almonds, crustaceans, dairy, casein, eggs, and peanuts.  Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity of any of these allergens risk serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume these products.

The Prescript-Assist dietary supplement was distributed through online sales on the LL’s Magnetic Clay website, and nationwide at brick and mortar retailers.  The product can be identified as coming in a white bottle containing either 60-count or 90-count capsules per bottle.

The recall was initiated after potential cGMP failures in the supply chain were identified.  No illness has been reported in connection with this recall.

Saje Natural Wellness Issued Recall on Splish Splash Gentle Baby Wash Due to Potential Health Hazard

 Saje Natural Wellness issued a recall for both 8.5 fl. oz and 1.7 fl. oz bottles (packed in the Wee and Well Gentle Baby Care Kit) of their Splish Splash Gentle Baby Wash on July 6, 2018 due to the potential health hazard, Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Pseudomonas aeruginosais is an opportunistic pathogen that can cause infection the spreads to the blood.  Those with a compromised immune system are at higher risk.

The product was distributed in the United States through Saje retail location in the states of California, New Jersey, and New York and online across the United States and internationally.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling indicated that one lot contained Pseudomonas aeruginosa.  At this time, no reports of adverse reaction has been identified in the United States.
